Diagrams for Planning and Zoning Your Spaces

Anytime a business is operating a physical storefront or activity center, they are going to need to plan the use of their spaces very carefully. Even if you are just a small mom-and-pop retail shop, you need to know where various products are going to be shelved and displayed in your store. To plan this probably, you will need to create diagrams which illustrate how all the spaces in your store are going to be used. More importantly, you need to have the right functionality zoning displayed in them.

Functionality zoning is where you divide different areas of space according to their functionality. For instance, if you are running a movie theater business, then you have spaces for purchasing food, playing arcade video games, bathrooms, waiting in the lobby, and watching movies on big silver screens. The extensiveness of your store’s functionality zoning will depend on what type of business you are running. The more complex and diverse your business is, the more complex your diagrams are going to be for illustrating the zoning.

As a new business owner, you may not possess the necessary skills to create these diagrams effectively. That is okay because it requires you to possess a completely different type of skillet than just the business itself. You need to have a vast amount of knowledge when it comes to customer behavior, managing the space of a facility and operational procedures. All this planning revolves around one thing… your customers. When you have customers inside your facility, you need to manage the flow of them as they move around and explore the various areas that you have available.

A good example of where diagrams come in handy is family entertainment centers. If you are operating a venue which has lots of gaming activities, such as pinball machines, arcade machines, pool tables, and other fun activities, you are going to plan your spaces very carefully. Your diagrams will need to clearly show which spaces are being used for various activities and how much of it is being used.

If you have ideas on how you want to use your spaces but need help planning them out in detail, JPS Designs can offer their services to assist you. We can create diagrams which will help you manage the day-to-day operations of your business venue so that you can plan out every space where your customers are going to go. This will allow you to take advantage of every opportunity you have with the space inside your venue.

Space planning efficiency is the key here because we will make sure that your venue uses all the space that it can to make you the most money possible. You never want to have wasted space anywhere because that will mean lost revenue which could have been saved. You’d be amazed how smaller spaces that seem minuscule can actually be turned into a moneymaker with the right planning and zoning. If you have diagrams to illustrate this, you won’t be guessing how to use your spaces as you’re setting up your business. Instead, you will already know what is going in each space and why. This is how professional businesses become successful.
